Launched in June 2020, the FIA Mobility Worldwide programme aims to support the rapid recovery and long-term stability of FIA Member Organisations during the COVID-19 crisis and in its aftermath. The programme is broken down into two distinct phases. The first part of the programme aimed to provide assistance to Clubs in greatest need and also created a toolkit of best practice for Clubs. The second part of FIA Mobility Worldwide, which is now ongoing, involves analysis of the findings of Part I and develops two key support and development strategies: business diversification and dedicated funding. To date, 55 Clubs have participated in the programme.

Thanks to FIA Mobility Worldwide, ANETA was able to acquire equipment and tools to launch its new driving school. It implemented virtual reality solutions and driving simulators for road safety-related topics in driver training by installing two Batak professional machines and three road safety simulators. Bataks are a unique and challenging apparatus requiring fast hand and eye coordination, ultimately helping students improve their reaction time.

ANETA also installed solar panels in the new school to generate clean energy for its buildings and its electric vehicles, covering all the school’s energy demand and having a surplus which is injected in the public grid. This encouraged the Club to think of sustainability solutions throughout the training programme to realise closed-loop operations.

After significant efforts, the school is now fully operational. Approximately 100 students use the installed Bataks and road safety simulators every month. Additionally, the road safety simulators allow students to try their driving skills under several weather conditions and interactions with other road users.

With the installation of equipment and new tools for the driving school, ANETA was able to expand road safety training to other sectors such as private companies; innovate driving education, through new technologies; reduce the number of road crashes; contribute to fight climate change through practical actions; and increase the number of students participating.
