INTERESTING FACTS
Opened in 1948, Circuit Park Zandvoort has hosted several Formula 1 Grand Prix in the past, but also today the circuit still is an integral part of the Dutch racing scene. It is located in the seaside town of Zandvoort, about 30 kilometres outside of Amsterdam.
Built right at the coast of the Dutch North Sea, nestling into the sand dunes, the circuit combines race action and holiday atmosphere. But while the proximity to the beach creates a relaxed vibe for the fans, the track can be very demanding for the drivers. The often quite windy weather means that sand is being blown onto the track lowering the grip level and creating constantly changing conditions. This can especially be tricky when leaving the racing line for an overtaking manoeuvre.
Nevertheless, the drivers like the layout of the track. The 4.307 kilometres offer both high-speed sections and slower, more technical areas.
