2018 World RX of South Africa  - Qualifying 2

PSRX Volkswagen Sweden’s Johan Kristoffersson struck back from being 16th in Q1 to win Q2 Race One and set the quickest time in the final round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, the World RX of South Africa.

Copying Team Peugeot Total’s one-two lockout in Q1, the PSRX team was one-two in Q2 as Norway’s Petter Solberg was second quickest with a race victory in Q2 Race Four, but Peugeot’s Sebastien Loeb is TQ (Top Qualifier) at the end of Saturday. “The second heat was okay. I didn’t have the best start, Petter had a magic start and he took the lead in the first corner. I struggled a bit in the traffic and then I was in the dust but overall I’m still at the top so it’s a good start of the weekend,” said Loeb.

EKS Audi Sport’s Mattias Ekstrom also took a race win in Q2 Race Three and was third quickest to be ahead of Peugeot’s Timmy Hansen, EKS team mate Andreas Bakkerud and Loeb in the second qualifier. GC Kompetition’s Anton Marklund and Guerlain Chicherit put both of the team’s Renault Megane RS RXs into the top ten in seventh and ninth. Peugeot’s Kevin Hansen was eighth and ALL-INKL.COM Munnich Motorsport’s Timo Scheider struck back from jumping the start and taking two jokers in Q1 with 10th quickest in Q2.

GRX Taneco Team’s Timur Timerzyanov lost time with a rear puncture but Great Britain’s Oliver Bennett didn’t start due to a turbo problem and Belgium’s Gregoire Demoustier didn’t start due to a clutch problem.
