WEC - FP3 Over, Everything Now Set for Qualifying at Silverstone
The third and final Free Practice session ahead of tomorrow’s 6 Hours of Silverstone is now over and the teams and drivers are now prepared for qualifying this afternoon.
Toyota and Ford continue to set the pace with the no8 Toyota TS050 setting the fastest lap overall and the no67 Ford GT the fastest lap in LMGTE Pro.
Fernando Alonso set a 1m37.677 lap, the fastest lap of the weekend so far, 1.6 seconds ahead of the no17 SMP Racing BR01 Stephane Sarrazin, with Jenson Button in the no11 SMP BR01 in third, four tenths behind their teammates. The no7 Toyota was fourth quickest.
It was another 1-2 in the LMGTE Pro category with Andy Priaulx setting the quickest lap of 1m55.197 in the no67 Ford, 0.6 seconds ahead of the no66 Ford. Aston Martin Racing were third, with the no95 Vantage 1.3 seconds behind the leading Ford.
TDS Racing finished the final 60-minute practice session at the top of the LMP2 entry, Mathieu Vaxivierre setting a 1m44.247 lap, 0.6 seconds ahead of the two Jackie Chan DC Racing Orecas, with the no37 car six tenths ahead of the no38 Oreca.
The no98 Aston Martin Racing Vantage was the quicker of the LMGTE Am entries, with Pedro Lamy posting a 1m58.460, 0.045s ahead of the no70 MR Racing Ferrari, with the no77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche four tenths behind the Ferrari.
Qualifying for the 6 Hours of Silverstone is scheduled for 12h00.
