DID YOU KNOW?
2017 will be the sixth edition of the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the 7km circuit has produced some great on track action since that first race in 2012. Here are some facts and figures from the previous seasons.
- Overall the top speed recorded in 2016 was 318.4kph compared to 319.5kph in 2015, 311.2 kph in 2014, 308.6kph in 2013 and 302kph in 2012.
- The fastest lap recorded by an LMP1 car was set by Timo Bernhard in the no17 Porsche 919 hybrid with a 1m54.755 in qualifying in 2015. This compares to the official lap record of 1m58.391 set by Mark Webber during the 2015 race.
- Porsche have never won overall in Belgium in the current era of the FIA WEC. Audi won in Belgium four times (2012, 2013, 2015, 2016), with Toyota winning in 2014.
- The last overall win for Porsche at the 1000km race at Spa was in 1984. Stefan Bellof and Derek Bell won the World Endurance Championship event in the Porsche 956B in a time of 5 hours, 53 minutes.
- Paul Dalla Lana, Pedro Lamy and Mathias Lauda have won the LMGTE Am class at Spa in 2015 and 2016 and with the same driver line up in 2017 the no98 Aston Martin is on course to do the triple.
- 2016 Race Distance
The winner completed 160 laps in 2016 meaning the race distance was 1120.62km.
