FIA Rally Safety Training held in Prague for Eastern European ASN Safety Delegates

21.08.24

Twenty-two Rally Safety Delegates representing 10 FIA Member Clubs gathered in Prague, Czech Republic, from 19 to 21 August for a three-day Rally Operational Safety Training seminar.

Following a first practical seminar at the FIA Technical Center safety in Valleiry, France, last December, the FIA’s commitment to rally safety continued with another successful training session held in Prague from August 19 to 21. Supported by the FIA Foundation’s Motor Sport Safety Grant and hosted by the Czech Auto Club ACCR, the second edition of this physical event, which focused on enhancing rally safety practices, was organized for ASNs of the Eastern European Region.

The training saw the participation of 22 trainees representing 10 different member clubs from across the region, who participated in several workshops, also receiving expert advice and guidance from Nicolas Klinger, FIA WRC Deputy Safety Delegate and President of the Closed Road Commission, and Clément Lauté, FIA Head of Operational Safety.

One of the highlights of the training was a hands-on workshop conducted on a public road. This practical exercise allowed participants to develop a comprehensive safety dossier, an essential document for ensuring safety standards during rally events. This workshop was instrumental in providing the attendees with real-world experience, enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios.

The training also served as a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences among the participating ASNs. Trainees were encouraged to discuss their own challenges and solutions related to safety, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement in rally events across the region.

The FIA will continue to deploy rally safety training sessions in regions around the world with the aim to support ASNs in their efforts to promote safety and ensure that the highest standards are maintained.
