The FIA promotes road safety at the 89th 24 Hours of Le Mans
On Saturday 21 August, FIA President Jean Todt, Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) President Pierre Fillon, Ferrari President John Elkann, Richard Mille, the Gendarmerie Nationale as well as Iron Dames & Toyota Gazoo Racing drivers promoted the FIA Action for Road Safety campaign at the 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
On Saturday 21 August, FIA President Jean Todt, Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) President Pierre Fillon, Ferrari President John Elkann, Richard Mille, the Gendarmerie Nationale as well as Iron Dames & Toyota Gazoo Racing drivers promoted the FIA Action for Road Safety campaign at the 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Together they took part in a group photo on the track to highlight their commitment to and promote the importance of road safety to fans attending the FIA World Endurance Championship race.
The FIA Action for Road Safety campaign was also visible throughout the week in the village, with a stand hosted jointly by the FIA and the Gendarmerie Nationale. The stand presented global and local road safety statistics and featured the #3500LIVES Campaign to raise public awareness of simple steps each and every one can take to stay safe on the road, whether driver, cyclist or pedestrian. Stand visitors were invited to complete an obstacle course wearing goggles simulating the effects of alcohol, drugs and fatigue and learn more about the FIA’s Golden Rules for road safety, renown #3500LIVES Campaign Ambassadors and global deployment of the Campaign. Stand visitors could also take and share their pictures on the dedicated wall expressing their commitment to never drink and drive and share the road with other road users.
The FIA’s Action for Road Safety campaign aims to raise awareness and to decrease the number of deaths and injuries on the world’s roads by focusing the Federation's resources on helping its Member Organisations around the globe to educate and advocate for safer roads, vehicles and behaviours.
