The results of the first Competition at Donington (GBR) at the beginning of June were consistent with the predictions, the strengths are known and continuity is expected at the front. Five Dutch Drivers will be present, as many as the Germans and less than the British contingent and its seven representatives. The hegemony of VM engines is increasing. Only five drivers are equipped with PVP and two with DEA.

A hint of uncertainty lasted until last year because it is the track where the favourite Peter Elkmann (DEU - Anderson / VM) had the most trouble finding the perfect balance of his equipment. The reigning European Champion has since rectified this and can now use his full potential on the 4.555km of the Dutch track, as proved by his domination in 2017. The TT Circuit however offers an opportunity for outsiders to impose themselves in the final result. Although great form for Elkmann is a certainty, he will again face his rival, Adam Kout (CZE - MS Kart / DEA), the double European Champion in 2015 and 2016. His programme reduction this year to only the European Championship could have been a disadvantage, but the response he gave to the leader at Donington showed that it is not. The Czech Driver has always been able to adapt to the Assen circuit to find the most appropriate set-up.

In the absence of Liam Morley (GBR - Anderson / DEA), four other participants are likely to mix with the frontrunners’ duel. Andréas Jost (DEU - Anderson / VM), who had a remarkable 2017 season, has been confirming his form since the beginning of the year. He notably beat Elkmann at Dijon in the French Championship and achieved a double podium at Donington. Marcel Maasmann (NLD - Anderson / VM) is a regular at the front of this Competition. He may not have equipment of the same level as these rivals, but at home, he uses his superior knowledge of the track, especially as he should be motivated by his provisional 4th in the Championship. Yannick De Brabander (BEL - MS Kart / VM), after being the revelation of 2016, retains all his potential and his motivation to win, despite a difficult 2017 season. He will probably be able to count on progress in reliability this year. Finally, Daniel Clark (GBR - Anderson / VM) needs to ward off fate after his double retirement at Donington. He had fought well at the front last year with excellent starts.

Among the most serious outsiders are Carl Hulme (GBR - Anderson / VM), back to the two-cylinder since 2017, the young and promising Recardo Van Dijk (NLD - MS Kart / VM) who deserves to expand his annual programme or Jaime Zuleta (COL - MS Kart / VM) who scored important points at Donington.

Le Superkart en représentation devant la foule d’Assen

La deuxième Compétition du Championnat d’Europe FIAKarting - Superkart se déroulera les 18 & 19 août sur le temple néerlandais de la vitesse, le TT circuit d’Assen qui pourrait être candidat pour recevoir la F1 dans le futur. Ce rendez-vous très populaire est comme toujours intégré aux célèbres «Gamma Racing Day», attirant une foule impressionnante avec les diverses démonstrations prévues comme celle du Renault Sport F1 Team ou celle de Superbike. 

Les résultats de la première Compétition à Donington (GBR) début juin ont été fidèles aux prévisions, les forces en présence sont connues et il faut donc s’attendre à une continuité aux avant-postes. Cinq Pilotes néerlandais seront présents, soit autant que les Allemands et moins que la colonie britannique et ses sept représentants. L’hégémonie des moteurs VM s’accroît. Seuls cinq Pilotes sont équipés de mécaniques PVP et deux de DEA.

Un soupçon d’incertitude valait jusque l’an passé puisqu’il s’agit du tracé sur lequel le favori Peter Elkmann (DEU – Anderson/VM) avait le plus de mal à trouver l’équilibre parfait de son ensemble. Le Champion d’Europe en titre a depuis rectifié le tir et sait maintenant exploiter tout son potentiel sur les 4,555 km du tracé hollandais, comme l’a prouvé sa domination en 2017. Le TT Circuit offre toutefois une possibilité aux outsiders pour s’intercaler dans l’enchaînement final. Si la grande forme d’Elkmann est une certitude, il devra affronter une nouvelle fois son rival, Adam Kout (CZE – MS Kart/DEA), double Champion d’Europe 2015 et 2016. Son programme réduit cette année au seul Championnat d’Europe aurait pu s’avérer gênant, mais la réplique qu’il donna au leader à Donington à montré qu’il n’en était rien. Le Tchèque a par ailleurs toujours su s’adapter au circuit d’Assen pour trouver le set-up le plus approprié.

A la suite du forfait de Liam Morley (GBR - Anderson /DEA), quatre autres participants sont susceptibles de se mêler au duel de tête.  Andréas Jost (DEU – Anderson/VM), qui a réalisé une saison 2017 remarquable, confirme depuis le début de l’année. Il a notamment battu Elkmann à Dijon en Championnat de France et signé un double podium à Donington. Marcel Maasmann (NLD - Anderson/VM) est un animateur régulier de cette Compétition. Il n’a peut-être pas le matériel au même niveau que ces rivaux, mais à domicile, il exploite au mieux sa connaissance de la piste, d’autant qu’il devrait être motivé par son 4e rang provisoire au Championnat. Yannick De Brabander (BEL – MS Kart/VM), après avoir été la révélation 2016, conserve tout son potentiel et sa  rage de vaincre, malgré une saison 2017 difficile. Il pourra sans doute compter sur une fiabilité en progrès cette année. Enfin, Daniel Clark (GBR – Anderson/VM) a besoin de conjurer le sort après son double abandon à Donington. Il s’était bien  battu aux avant-postes l’an passé en prenant d’excellents départs.

Parmi les outsiders les plus sérieux, citons  Carl Hulme (GBR – Anderson/VM) revenu en bicylindre depuis 2017, le jeune et prometteur Recardo Van Dijk (NLD – MS Kart/VM) qui mériterait d’étoffer son programme annuel ou encore Jaime Zuleta (COL – MS Kart/VM) qui a engrangé des points importants à Donington.
