F4 - Marcos Siebert leads the points table in Italian Championship

In round five of the 2016 Italian Formula 4 Championship, powered by Abarth, last weekend (9-11 September) at Vallelunga, Argentine Marcos Siebert of the Jenzer Motorsport team saw his championship lead diminish from 39 points to just ten, leaving the battle for the coveted title even more in the balance with two events remaining.

The lead of the Rookie Trophy did however change, the Estonian Juri Vips (Prema Power Team) overtaking the Italian Simone Cunati (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing). Prema Power Team also took commanding control of the Team’s Trophy.

With 25 points scored in the three races at Vallelunga, Marcos Siebert is now on 190, followed by the German Mick Schumacher (Prema Power Team). Third, on 159 points, is Mexican Raul Guzman (DR Formula), the winner of Race 1 at Vallelunga, followed by Juri Vips (93), the American Juan Correa (87.5), the Brazilian Giuliano Raucci (86, Diegi Motorsport, the Venezuelan Mauricio Baiz (85,Kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport), the Dutchman Job Van Uitert (84.5), Brazilian Joao Vieira (69, Antonelli Motorsport; Italian Diego Bertonelli of Bhaitech, rounds out the top ten on 65 points.

The first 10 drivers, from 9 different countries, a testament to the international nature of the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth. 

In the race for the Rookie Trophy, behind new leader Juri Vips (182 points), is Simone Cunati (162.5 points), Juan Correa (161.5 points), the Indian Kush Maini (158.5, BVM Racing) and his team mate, the Italian Lorenzo Colombo on 138.5 points.

As anticipated, Prema Power Team overtook Jenzer Motorsport and is now in control of the Team’s Championship: they lead with a margin of 338.5 points to 284 points. Third on 182 points is Kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport, followed by DR Formula on 158, RB Racing on 89.5, Diegi Motorsport on 88, Antonelli Motorsport on 87, Bhaitech on 86, Vincenzo Sospiri Racing on 77 and BVM Racing on 63.5.
