Hahn’s points total in Hungary today ensures that he has re-taken the 2016 FIA ETRC title lead and has a nine point cushion over rival Adam Lacko who took a fifth and fourth placed finish respectively.

The events of Saturday though will be remembered for a spectacular second race where multiple on-track fights played out and a final corner collision saw plenty of controversy.

Local hero Norbert Kiss was at the heart of the action and sent his home crowd in to raptures with a second place in race one and a third in a sensational second event.

RACE ONE

Jochen Hahn took a clear victory in the first race of the weekend at Hungaroring on Saturday afternoon. Hahn controlled the 11-lap race leading home local hero Nobert Kiss by 2.219 seconds to re-claim the championship points lead after rival Adam Lacko finished in fifth position.

Hahn led in to the first turn and despite an impressive Ryan Smith initially hanging on to the rear of the Hahn Racing MAN, it was the German who was able to control the pace throughout to take another victory in his quest to take the 2016 FIA ETRC title. He now leads Lacko by 11 points.

Crowd favourite Norbert Kiss sent the crowd wild on lap three when he pulled off a superb move on Anthony Janiec to take third position at the final corner. The Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz driver then chased down Smith who had to defend his second place vigorously.

The reverse pole winner after the race one result – Frankie Vojtisek (Czech Truck Racing Team) led for the first two laps but soon the pressure from Steffi Halm told and the lead changed as they entered the third lap.

Immediately Halm pulled clear and opened up what proved to be a race winning gap. The Reinert Racing driver using the fact Vojtisek was delaying the chasing pack to her advantage. She won the race with plenty in hand and crossed the finish line a huge 16.784s ahead of her opposition to register her third win in the FIA ETRC.
