ETRC - 2019 Race of Hungary - Race 3 & 4

It was a dramatic day of FIA European Truck Racing Championship action at Hungaroring as sun was replaced by rain to spice up the action today with damp and dry racing in equal measure.

Jochen Hahn and André Kursim swept the board to take a win each and make it another German lock-up ensuring that no other nationality got a look in over the Hungaroring weekend.

Some dramatic battles played out in front of a crowd over 25,000 people as Hahn reprised his Saturday win to claim a crushing pole position and Race 4 victory to open up an early gap in the titles stakes.

André Kursim took his first win of the season in the final race of the day to make it a fine weekend for IVECO trucks which three out of four 1-2 finishes.

Race 3

Jochen Hahn strengthened his position in the 2019 FIA ETRC points standings with a second win of the weekend at a damp Hungaroring in Race 3.

For the second time in as many days, reigning champion Jochen Hahn took a commanding victory at Hungaroring.

Leading lights to flag, in a race that started under a yellow flag due to a damp track surface, Hahn took his Team Hahn Racing IVECO to another comfortable win.

This time he was followed home by Steffi Halm's Team Schwabentruck IVECO, making it a fine 1-2 for the Italian manufacturer.

Local ace Norbert Kiss rounded out the podium, inheriting the lead after Sascha Lenz’s retirement which was caused by a steering problem in the closing stages of the race.

Race 4

Don’t Touch Racing driver André Kursim controlled Race 4 at Hungaroring this afternoon to finish ahead of René Reinert and make it yet another 1-2 for IVECO trucks.

Antonio Albacete completed the top three, clinching his second podium of the weekend which saw a crowd of 25,000 people enjoy some typically close FIA ETRC action.

As the race got underway, Kursim had to fend off the hard-charging Adam Lacko who started from third position on the grid.

However, the 2017 FIA ETRC title-winner retired his Freightliner on lap one due to a throttle problem, allowing Kursim to attack pole sitter Jamie Anderson who started from the semi-reverse grid pole.

The young German quickly found his way by Anderson and was in the lead by the end of lap one. He then remained in control, maintaining an average gap of 2.5s over second-placed Reinert over the course of the 11-lap race
