ERC Junior Under 28 Pre-Barum Czech Rally Zlin - Quotes

ERC, Barum Czech Rally Zlin

Round 4 of 6: Barum Czech Rally Zlín, 25-27 August

JAN ČERNÝ (CZE) Championship position: Ninth
Co-driver: Petr Černohorský (CZE) Car: ŠKODA Fabia R5

“The previous rounds of the ERC have not been good for me so I’m hoping for a good result on my home rally. Since Poland I have done some tests and I have one more tomorrow so I’ve had lots of kilometres in the car and I’m feeling confident. We found a lot of mistakes with the pacenotes in Poland and we’ve worked on it since then so I know we can be much stronger. It also helps that I know this rally well having done it five or six times before.”

MARIJAN GRIEBEL (DEU) Championship position: First
Co-driver: Stefan Kopcyzk (DEU) Car: ŠKODA Fabia R5

“Going straight from Rallye Deutschland to Zlín is really good for the confidence because it’s always good to be competing, so for sure I’ll be in race mode and ready to fight. The result on Rallye Deutschland was disappointing for me. I was fifth at the end of the first day but then I got a puncture and went into a ditch on day two so my chances were over. Zlín will be similar to Deutschland in that there will be some strong competition and it will be tough with so many R5 cars and a lot of good drivers. But like the whole season, my focus will be on the ERC Junior Under 28 title. I’ve had three good results so far so my target will be to make it four good results in Czech Republic.”

NIKOLAY GRYAZIN (RUS) Championship position: Fifth
Co-driver: Yaroslav Fedorov (RUS) Car: ŠKODA Fabia R5

PEPE LÓPEZ (ESP) Championship position: Second
Co-driver: Borja Rozada (ESP) Car: Peugeot 208 T16

“It wasn’t a good result in Poland, but the season isn’t over yet and we can still win the ERC Junior U28 Championship. We want to put what happened in Poland behind us and focus on keeping up our fight, beginning with the Barum Rally. We are sure, the learnings from Rzeszów will be really useful for Czech Republic as it will be a very fast Tarmac rally.”

JOSH MOFFETT (IRL) Championship position: Fourth
Co-driver: James Fulton (IRL) Car: Ford Fiesta R5

“It’s definitely going to be a difficult rally with so many R5 cars. Having not done the rally before I’m going to need to get stuck into it to really understand it. From speaking to several people who have done it before I’m told it’s a bit like the roads in Ireland, quite bumpy, so that should help along with the test we have scheduled tomorrow.”

JOSÉ SUÁREZ (ESP) Championship position: Sixth
Co-driver: Cándido Carrera (ESP) Car: Peugeot 208 T16

“We are very happy to have finished on the podium in Poland and to have scored another good result for Peugeot Sport. It was important for our confidence to show that we have the speed to challenge for the win. We are hoping for an even stronger run in Barum Rally. We've shown we are competitive and the car is reliable so now we have the perfect package to get a good result. I love speedy rallies, so I'm sure I'll enjoy Barum Rally a lot. I think tarmac is the field where I can perform better.”
