Aston Martin proved today that its strong performances in the free practice sessions for the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo were no fluke as the British marque swept to pole position in both the LMGTE Pro and Am categories. In fact, had Porsche not intervened, Aston Martin Racing would have had a 1-2 in both classes.

After setting the fastest two laps of the first Free Practice session Porsche repeated the feat with another 1-2 in Free Practice 2 with the no20 Porsche 919 hybrid of Mark Webber topping the time sheets with a 1m18.349, eighth tenths quicker than the earlier best time and just 0.091s ahead of the no14 919 of Romain Dumas.
