Bosnia and Herzegovina Automobile Club (BIHAMK) has been granted 2-star accreditation as part of the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme. The several-month-long accreditation process proved to be very rewarding for BIHAMK as it helped structure its pro-environmental activities which have been an essential part of its long-term strategy to reduce its environmental impact.

At the 2023 edition of the International Transport Forum (ITF) Summit focused on “transport enabling sustainable economies”, the FIA advocated for a sustainable mobility transition that leaves no one behind and takes into account the wide array of users’ needs.

FIA Member, the Reial Automòbil Club de Catalunya (RACC), has obtained 3-star accreditation as part of the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme. This achievement recognises RACC’s continuous commitment to making sustainability one of its top priorities.

The 2023 edition of the World Environment Day aims to #BeatPlasticPollution.1 Throughout their life cycle, tyres – a key element of mobility and motor sport – contribute to harmful pollution. However, in recent years, a number of measures have been developed to limit the negative effects of tyres – and through research, sustainability requirements and stricter controls, the FIA is playing its part in reducing the impact.

Svenska Bilsportforbundet (SBF) publishes a report showing that motor sport arenas in the country play an important role in preserving biodiversity. Results of the insect inventory undertaken at three race tracks around Sweden show a high species richness with 390 species of insects found including five red-listed ones. Svenska Bilsportforbundet advocates for the adoption of dedicated management plans for all race tracks that identify the conservation measures allowing to maintain and develop biodiversity.

The FIA Smart Driving Challenge is a global challenge that encourages everyday motorists to adopt smarter, cleaner, and safer driving behaviour. A collaboration between FIA and Greater Than, the FIA Smart Driving Challenge analyses real-time driving behaviour using Greater Than’s pattern AI technology. Participants in the 2022 Season achieved an average CO2 saving of 12.3% vs the global average.*

FIA Region I is leading the MODALES awareness campaign to share low-emission driving tips and encourage professional and private car users to adopt good driving behaviours and maintenance practices.

FIA Member Clubs the Norges Automobil-Forbund (NAF) and the Automóvil Club del Ecuador (ANETA) have successfully renewed their FIA three-Star Environmental Accreditation for another two years.

FIA Member the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) carried out the largest-ever survey of Canadian Electric vehicles’ drivers and found that an overwhelming majority would buy electric again, but that many still worry about lack of public charging.

The first 2023 meeting of the World Council for Automobile Mobility and Tourism (WCAMT) was the occasion to discuss the rollout of ambitious projects to promote safe and sustainable mobility, plans to better empower the regions and support the Clubs, as well as a joint initiative to preserve and protect the automobile heritage.
