Since Formula One World Championship’s inception in 1950, the sport has always sought to innovate, constantly pushing the technological boundaries in order to find the quickest route to victory. The sport has frequently pioneered technology that has been successfully transferred to everyday transport. In recent years, however, that process has become somewhat blunted as the automotive industry also pursued a range of alternative power solutions designed to target efficiency.
