ANETA LAUNCHES ITS ITINERANT ROAD UNIT, A ROAD EDUCATION AND SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY TRAINING PROGRAMME
FIA Member Club the Automóvil Club del Ecuador (ANETA) launched the Itinerant Road Unit together with Ecuador’s Ministry of Education and the Metropolitan Traffic Agency of Quito. This programme aims to provide road education and sustainable mobility training to 40,000 students aged 6-16 from 20 provinces of the country in 2023.

FIA Member Club the Automobile Association of Vietnam celebrates one year of the ‘Power of No’ campaign. Led by a multi-sector alliance of 28 organisations, the ‘Power of No’ campaign aims to raise awareness of the dangers of drink-driving among young people aged 18-30 in six Southeast Asian countries (Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam). Over 39 million youths have been reached by this digital campaign so far.

On 14 June, a new road safety initiative, aiming to reduce vehicle speeds around schools, was launched in Kitwe, Zambia by Mayor Mpansa Mwaya. This initiative is supported by the FIA Foundation, through its Child Health Initiative, as well as by the Zambia Road Safety Trust and FIA Member Club the Zambia Motor Sport Association.

At last week’s World Council for Automobile Mobility and Tourism, FIA President Jean Todt announced the Australian Automobile Association as the recipient of the 2020 FIA Road Safety Award for “the Most Effective Road Safety Intervention by an FIA Club” for its ‘Drive in the Moment’ initiative.
