Today, the United Nations Road Safety Trust Fund was officially launched at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) welcomes the establishment of this Fund which will help increase political support and funding for global road safety.

The developing ties between the FIA and the International Olympic Committee have been further strengthened following a productive meeting on 10th April between their respective delegations at the IOC’s Lausanne headquarters.

On 5 April, FIA President Jean Todt, who also serves as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, gave an opening speech at the International Transport Forum (ITF) Conference on “Global Transport Security and Safety for a Century” in Riga, Latvia, along with Minister of Transport Uldis Augulis and ITF Secretary General Young Tae Kim

On 17 March 2018, the Automobile Association of Singapore organised the Overseas Safe Driving Forum 2018, a one-of-a-kind platform addressing safe driving abroad.

On 28 February, Uganda officials and stakeholders presented the national survey on road safety, which was prepared with the support of AA Uganda (AAU).

On 7 March, FIA President Jean Todt, who also serves as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, together with Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris and Chair of C40 and Yuwei Li, Director of UNECE’s Sustainable Transport Division spoke about the ongoing efforts to promote road safety at the Geneva Motor Show

At the 2018 Mexico City E-Prix, numerous Formula E fans and families had the opportunity to visit the FIA stand and to learn more about the leading action of the FIA in the field of road safety advocacy and promotion of the use of child restraint systems

Today, Renault e.Dams champion Sébastien Buemi and the Techeetah Formula E Team with drivers Jean-Éric Vergne and André Lotterer, and Team Principal Mark Preston, visited the FIA Stand at the Mexico E-Prix and showed their support for the use of child restraint systems

Earlier this year, the Union of the Bulgarian Automobilists (UAB) was awarded the Annual Prize for Road Safety in Social Organisations Category distributed by the Bulgarian Foundation for successful road safety campaigns, and #3500LIVES in particular.
