It’s lights out for the start of the 2023 FIA European Rallycross Championship, which gets underway at Hungary’s Nyirád Racing Center this weekend (April 29-30) – and the scene is set for close competition between proven champions, home heroes and some of the sport’s brightest rising stars.

The 2023 FIA European Rallycross Championship is set for a spectacular opening round with a star-studded field preparing to launch an attack on the Nyirád Racing Center – aka, the ‘Red Cauldron’, a nicknamed derived from the distinctive colour of its unsealed surfaces.

Five cars line-abreast at the start for short and sharp races of 4 to 6 laps on mixed surfaces, alternating between asphalt and gravel: these are the “explosive” ingredients of Rallycross, a discipline that first saw the light of day in 1967.
