FMSCI Successfully Concludes Stewards Training Program
The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) has concluded its nationwide Stewards’ Training Program, a key part of the India Development Program. Supported by the FIA Sport Club Development Program, this initiative has effectively engaged new participants in the Indian motorsport community.
The Stewards’ Training Program was initiated after two FIA visits in 2023 identified the need for Stewards and Race Directors Training in India. The FIA subsequently provided comprehensive training to FMSCI staff, including guidance on training development and delivery.
Spanning two months, the program conducted training sessions in Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, and Kolkata. About 350 participants attended the sessions, gaining valuable insights into the intricacies of stewardship. The training included interactive lectures and comprehensive modules to enhance participants' skills for motorsport events across the nation.
Mr. Akbar Ebrahim, President of FMSCI, emphasised the importance of continuous training for maintaining high standards of safety, fairness, and professionalism in motorsport events. He stated, “This program was our first step towards knowledge updates, consistent decision-making, handling complex situations, adaptability, and maintaining ethical standards. We are grateful for the FIA's support in helping us achieve these goals.”
Over 300 individuals participated in the online assessments, held twice, showcasing their dedication to high standards of stewardship. A new grading system with Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories wasintroduced to recognise and reward proficiency in stewardship.
To promote accessibility and continuous learning, the Stewards Training Program will be integrated into the e-learning portal of FMSCI's forthcoming website. This initiative will allow individuals to access training materials from home, facilitating ongoing skill development.
With the successful conclusion of this program, FMSCI is committed to nurturing talent, promoting excellence, and supporting the growth of motorsport in India. The program has equipped participants with essential skills and paved the way for their integration into the motorsport community.
