African Rally Championship
SEASON 2022
African Rally Championship
Run for the first time in 1981, the FIA African Rally Championship (ARC) features an all-gravel calendar with events taking place against a backdrop of stunning landscapes across the continent’s Sub-Saharan region.
Thanks to the work and efforts of the involved ASNs and organisers, the ARC continues to prosper, despite the challenges presented by COVID-19.
Titles up for grabs
- FIA ARC for Drivers and Co-Drivers in a car from any group
- FIA ARC2 for Drivers and Co-Drivers in Group NR4 cars
- FIA ARC3 for Drivers and Co-Drivers in Rally3 cars
- FIA ARC4 for Drivers and Co-Drivers in Rally4 and Rally5 cars
- FIA ARC Junior for Drivers 28 and under on January 1, 2022, entered in a car from any group
What’s new for 2022?
- In addition to the category restructuring (see above), the two-pass reconnaissance format is back for 2022.
- Cars are permitted to deviate from the centre line of the route to a tolerance of six metres, instead of 10 metres previously.
- Only the fastest five drivers from the Qualifying Stage – rather than the previous 15 – take part in the selection of starting positions for the opening leg of an event.
