World Cup for Cross Country Rallies
World Cup for Cross Country Rallies
In 2020, the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies takes the contenders across the globe and over some of the most stunning and diverse terrain the world has to offer. Five events make up the calendar with a new challenge in the form of the Silk Way Rally, the first Marathon Rally in the series since Dakar 2001.
The four Cross Country Rallies in Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Kazakhstan and Morocco will cover a minimum of 1,200 kilometres of selective sections over five days, while the Silk Way Rally takes in 13 days of competition and more than 2,500 kilometres of competitive action across central Asia, finishing in the giant dunes of the Gobi Desert.
New for 2020 are amended groups and classes, paving the way for SSV (side by side vehicles), drivers and teams now able to compete in their own category for a dedicated Trophy. T1, T2 and T3 (formerly T3P) Groups remain, the SSVs (formerly T3S) will compete in this newly-created T4 category with the trucks now competing in T5. Leg points have also been introduced across all the driver and co-driver category World Cups, ensuring crews who have retired can re-start and have something to fight for on subsequent days.
