Motorsport UK introduces new content and initiatives in response to COVID-19

04.04.20

Motorsport UK has created new content and launched a wide range of practical initiatives in order to ensure its members and clubs, and the wider motorsport community, have all the information they need through a central and easily accessible source.

A resource centre on Motorsport UK’s website now hosts dedicated links and advice about COVID-19, including government economic support; a Q&A for clubs, volunteers and competitors; advice on personal safety, mental health and well-being support; how to help in the community; and a ‘#stayontrack’ page to help give followers their motorsport fix while at home.

A range of member benefits has been assimilated to help its 55k strong membership get their motorsport fix while events are postponed, with discounts on a range of online resources, streaming content and motorsport/ automotive magazine subscriptions.

Motorsport UK is also supporting the launch of a range of esports championships including karting, rally and circuit racing, while Academy coaches are working with athletes on nutrition and fitness programmes as well as social media challenges which the public can also view.

Learning and Development has also been given clear focus with a new e-learning platform, the Learning Hub, launched on 31st March, initially for 3,500 Officials and with further content planned for Clubs and Marshals during April. Online coaching webinars for its 720 clubs are soon to be launched.

Separately, the motorsport community is pulling together in the UK with a number of leading F1 teams and other motorsport organisations collaborating to fast track the development of respirators in support of our healthcare infrastructure.
