The Dutch Club’s roadside assistance app reached a historic landmark in 2017.

The Royal Dutch Touring Club ANWB was among the first to launch its roadside assistance mobile app in April 2011.

In 2017, the Club reached another milestone with more than 1 million downloads of the app.

With 350,000 new downloads in 2017 alone, the updated and improved version of the app has proved to be a great success. Developed hand-in-hand with its users, this new version of the app aims to perform better and ensure ANWB stays at the forefront of the roadside assistance business.

The upgrading process initially focused on developing a fast and safe way of reporting car breakdowns to ANWB. In order to identify any other improvements, the app was stripped down to its most basic form in early January 2017. As user feedback came in, ANWB rolled out improvements and adjustments each month. This synergy lead to the app in its current form.

ANWB reports that 10% of all breakdowns are now reported in the app. While breakdowns still require phone contact with members, the Club is working on further digitising this process, in line with their innovative roadside assistance strategy.
