WEC - 2017 Prologue Day 1 report
A large crowd enjoyed the first day of the two day official preseason test, The Prologue, with thousands of fans enjoying the sunshine and taking part in the pitlane walk at lunchtime to see the FIA World Endurance Championship cars and drivers up close for the first time in 2017.
While the morning and afternoon sessions were dry, the rain that was forecast for the end of the day duly arrived as the green lights at the end of the pitlane signalled the start of the 2-hour evening session. Only a handful of cars decided to venture out on track.
- The fastest car of the day was the no7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid, with Mike Conway setting a 1m31.332 in the afternoon session
- Bruno Senna was the quickest LMP2 driver with a 1m36.094 lap in the afternoon session in the no31 Vaillante Rebellion Oreca 07 Gibson.
- The no92 Porsche 911 RSR was the quickest LMGTE Pro car in all three sessions, the fastest time being set in the morning by Michael Christensen with a 1m47.379 lap.
- The LMGTE Am class no86 Gulf Racing Porsche was also quickest in all three sessions with Ben Barker setting a 1m50.035 lap in the afternoon.
The fourth 3-hour test session will take place at 09h00 tomorrow morning, with The Prologue concluding with the final session from 14h00 to 17h00 at Monza.
