The FIA is once again prominently represented at the renowned Geneva Motor Show; which today (7 March) opened its doors for the 87th time to welcome members of the press before the show opened to the public from Thursday 9 to Sunday 19. After a successful debut in the Salon in 2016, the FIA’s two pillars of Sport and Mobility are once again on display, and FIA President Jean Todt was in attendance to view the FIA stand and meet with the unique collective of automotive industry professionals.

The sport side of the stand embraces the latest innovations in racing technology, featuring the Spark-Renault SRT01-E – the single-seater used by all teams that took part in the first season of the FIA Formula E Championship whose chassis still forms the basis of cars competing now in the third season. The car on display features the all-new aerodynamic package including the striking front wing design which is currently fitted to the cars doing battle on thrilling city street circuits around the world.

There are also a number of interactive activities to engage with the hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts who will visit the show over the next two weeks.

Through a unique 3D experience, show-goers will have the opportunity to discover the world of the FIA and its wide-ranging activities.

A pit-wall simulator will put visitors in the seat of a race director, engineer or driver and allow them to talk over the radio with their friends or colleagues, whilst the latest Gran Turismo Sport simulator showcases the next generation of racing video game. This exciting new game, which is due for release later this year, will feature the “FIA Gran Turismo Online Championship”, and successful progression through the game will grant an “FIA Gran Turismo Digital License” from participating ASNs (national sports authorities/automobile clubs) which can be included as a step towards a real-world racing licence.

The Mobility side of the stand is dedicated to the activities of the FIA in the field of road safety. Visitors will have a chance to preview the #3500LIVES campaign that will be launched by the FIA and JCDecaux this Friday 10 March 2017 in Paris, at the Automobile Club de France. Displayed in 70 countries, the campaign will spread awareness of the key risk factors on the road today and call on all road users to sign the FIA’s Manifesto for Global Road Safety. Visitors will be able to print their own #3500LIVES photo to express their support for the FIA’s Golden Rules promoted by the 13 celebrities from the sport, film and music industries involved in the campaign. They will also put their driving reflexes to the test, taking part in a 3D Action for Road Safety Challenge.

Another section of the stand is dedicated to the FIA High Level Panel for Road Safety. Established in November 2015, the Panel brings together senior decision-makers from the global business community, international institutions and non-governmental organisations to find innovative solutions to address the global road safety challenge.

The FIA stand is number 1240, located in Hall 1 of the Palexpo exhibition centre in Geneva. It will be open to the public from Thursday 9 March to Sunday 19 March, from 10am-8pm on weekdays, and 9am-7pm at weekends.
