DID YOU KNOW?
2015 will be the fourth edition of the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the 7km circuit has produced some great on track action since that first race in 2012. Here are some facts and figures from the previous seasons.
- Overall the top speed recorded in 2014 was 311.2 kph and this compares to 308.6kph in 2013 and 302kph in 2012.
- The fastest lap recorded during the weekend was set by Lucas Di Grassi in 2013 with a 1m58.934 lap in qualifying for that year’s race. However with lap times at Silverstone two weeks ago being lowered by nearly three seconds compared to 2014, the expectation is a new fastest lap will be set at Spa on Saturday 2 May.
- With Audi winning in 2012 and 2013 and Toyota winning last year, the scene is now set for an epic three way battle to the chequered flag in The Ardennes.
- The last overall win for Porsche at the 1000km race at Spa was in 1984. Stefan Bellof and Derek Bell won the World Endurance Championship event in the Porsche 956B in a time of 5 hours, 53 minutes.
- The WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps is the only event on the World Endurance Championship calendar to be on the same weekend in 2012, 2013, 2014 and now in 2015. All other events have moved weekends at least once.
- Ferrari have had the upperhand in the GTE classes at Spa, winning both the Pro and Am classes in 2013 and 2014. Porsche won both classes in 2012.
- Over 114,000 spectators have attended the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in 2012-2014.
