WEC - Oliver Jarvis looks forward to returning to Mexico
The British driver finished in second place in the sprint race, finishing just ahead of Neel Jani, who will, of course, also be racing at the 6 Hours of Mexico in the no2 Porsche 919. In the main race Jarvis finished second once again, this time 3.3 seconds behind Ireland’s Adam Carroll, who is also racing in the LMGTE Am class no86 Gulf Racing Porsche 911.
We caught up with Oliver Jarvis at the Nurburgring to talk about the WECs race in Mexico City.
“It seems like a lifetime ago. It is the same circuit but it has been completely redeveloped, with a completely new surface. My biggest memory there was how bumpy it was. When you got out of the car your hands were hurting from the bumps, so I think it is going to be a different experience to drive. It is a great circuit; really fast, really flowing, so I hope it has maintained some of those characteristics.”
“The Mexican fans are crazy, I expect it to be packed. It’s a great circuit and even going there during the week, it is a very busy place with people running or cycling the track and they really get involved on race day, especially with the stadium that they have for the later part of the track. It should be a fantastic event.”
The 6 Hours of Mexico takes place on Saturday 3 September and is round 5 of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship.
