FIA launches invitations to tender for Formula E
Three new invitations to tender announced for the Gen3 car that debuts in 2022/23 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship
The FIA and the Formula E promoter have agreed on key requirements for the Gen3 project. The aim is to have a Formula E car which matches the ambitions of the championship in the future and further increases the entertainment value for fans. The new cars are set to have a higher performance level than the current Gen2 cars, and at the same time be lighter and more agile to maintain one of the special features of Formula E, which is street racing in city centres.
The Gen3 cars will also showcase the continued improvements made in the development of electric vehicles. An important area of the technology included in the next generation Formula E car will be the enabling of fast charging. While it adds interest from the sporting perspective, reducing the charging time of electric vehicles remains an important factor for the improvement of electric mobility for everyday users.
Consistent with the above brief, three new invitations to tender have been launched for the 2022/23, 2023/24 and 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship car:
- Battery
- Chassis including front powertrain
- Tyres
Potential bidders interested in being part of the technical development of the next generation Formula E car (Gen3) are invited to submit their tenders and are permitted to bid for more than one tender.
