Challenging jordan rally announced
Jordan has unveiled one of the toughest rounds of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship this year.
The May 1-3 event will have a familiar feel with many of the 21 special stages used when the Kingdom hosted the FIA World Rally Championship in 2008, 2010 and 2011, which makes it a daunting task for the region’s top drivers.
“We’ve finalised the road books and have prepared a rally that will be both demanding and very entertaining,” said Chairman of the Organisers, Khaled Zakaria. “The stages run through some of the most fantastic scenery to be found anywhere in the world of motor sport, with spectacular backdrops complementing the testing stages.”
Following a high profile spectator-friendly launch in Amman on the evening of May 1, teams will take on 273kms of timed stages over two days running through the Jordan Valley and close to the Dead Sea. It will once again be based out of the Crowne Plaza Resort and Spa Dead Sea.
Jordan makes up the third round of the regional championship with Qatar’s Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah the overwhelming favourite, having won in Jordan last year.
