Race 2 – Home victory for Homola
Behind the BMW 1-2, the SEAT León of Andreas Pfister took maximum points in the Single-Make Trophy for the second time today by finishing third overall, holding off a determined challenge from Michal Matějovský’s BMW over the final few laps. Once again it was Kevin Krammes who was victorious in Super 1600 while Andrina Gugger was the highest-scoring of the Ladies’ Cup competitors.
There were no repeats of the incident in Race 1 that saw six cars in the gravel at the very first corner. All but one of those cars were able to start Race 2, with the only retirement during the race being that of Igor Skuz, whose SEAT ended up in the gravel at Turn 10 after an incident involving Roland Hertner’s BMW.
Mat’o Homola – winner Race 2 : “I could see the flags waving and the fans cheering after both races and that was really encouraging for me. We had a small engine problem and so things were a little difficult for us. We are now twenty points behind Petr in Super 2000 after four races and it will be tough to catch him but we will try.”
Andreas Pfister – winner Single-Make Trophy: “I think we had fun in the fights we had – I hope the other guys around me enjoyed them as well! I had a disappointing weekend in Monza, where I didn’t score many points and so I have so thank my team for such a competitive car. I can now look forward to what is nearly my home race in Salzburg. I think the battle for the title will be very difficult; we have only had four races and there are six still to go.”
Kevin Krammes – winner in S1600 : “I am very happy after this weekend; I hope I now have enough of a lead that I can relax a little. I had no problems at all this weekend and so I’m very satisfied with how the races went.”
Andrina Gugger – winner in the Ladies’ Trophy : “To be honest, I was really afraid as I was sitting on pole position for Race 2! Monza was only my first race in the car and I only got two practice starts here so I was very nervous looking behind me and wondering what they were all thinking. I am very surprised to be third in Super 2000. It is really nice to be in that position!”
