This weekend (29 June – 2 July), the FIA will have a strong presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, building on the success of its first appearance in 2016 with a stand right at the heart of the action. The event is based around an iconic hill climb at Goodwood House in West Sussex, it has grown since its inception in 1993 to become an international jamboree of both classic and cutting edge racing cars from every discipline.

The FIA stand will fittingly be right in the middle of the weekend’s action, close to the start of the hill climb. It will feature a range of displays, providing visitors with insight into the latest motor sport innovations whilst also looking back at some of the most iconic racing locations in the UK.

Taking centre stage on the stand this year will be the theme ‘From Track to Road’, which showcases the wide-ranging ways in which motor sport technology drives the development of road cars and infrastructure. From the huge advances in efficiency driven by hybrid racing engines, to the ever-growing importance of electric vehicles and even how F1 technology can save lives on the public roads, visitors to the stand will see how racing on the track brings benefits to daily life. These innovations will be represented by the Panasonic Jaguar Racing Formula E car, the Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 car and the BabyPod20 transport incubator, derived from F1 materials and design, which is built on the Williams F1 production line.

Fans at Goodwood will also get the chance to see some of the latest generation of racing cars which are currently battling for FIA World Championships on display, including the Ford GT LMGTE competing for the all-new World Championship for GTE cars as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the spectacular and dynamic Hyundai i20 WRC which has already won two events in this year’s FIA World Rally Championship.

Visitors to the stand will also be able to test out the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport release on a state-of-the-art simulator. This exciting new game will feature the “FIA Gran Turismo Online Championship”, and successful progression through the game will grant an “FIA Gran Turismo Digital License” from participating ASNs (national sports authorities/automobile clubs) which counts towards a real-world racing licence.

Joining in the celebration of motor sport, the stand will also showcase displays of British drivers fighting to be crowned 2017 FIA World Champion in their various disciplines, as well as some iconic circuits which have shaped the history of the sport.

A new feature of this year’s FIA presence at the Festival of Speed will be driver signing sessions, taking place on Friday and Saturday.

On Saturday, Porsche LMP1 drivers and winners of the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard, as well as 2015 winner of the Nick Tandy, will be on the stand from 11:30, along with Ford GTE drivers Andy Priaulx, Harry Tincknell and Billy Johnson
