14 drivers from 11 countries who raced for six different teams made it to the FIA Formula 3 European Championship podium last year. The biggest number of podiums - 24 in total - was clinched by champion Felix Rosenqvist, the clearly most experienced driver on the grid who contested his sixth Formula 3 season in 2015. Nevertheless, Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) followed close behind, with his 20 podiums. And the Italian did not only race for another team but also relied on the power unit of another engine manufacturer. While the Swede won his title with Mercedes-Benz power, Giovanazzi’s single-seater was equipped with a Volkswagen engine.

In addition to the drivers representing the Prema and Carlin colours, the young guns racing for Van Amersfoort Racing, Signature, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport and Motopark also made it to the podium. And when it comes to the race winners, the FIA Formula 3 European Championship also had a remarkable variety: apart from Rosenqvist and his Prema team-mates Jake Dennis und Lance Stroll, also Antonio Giovinazzi, George Russell (Carlin), Charles Leclerc (Van Amersfoort Racing), Maximilian Günther (kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) and Markus Pommer (Motopark) made it to the top step of the podium.

At the same time, the pole-sitter list even features another two names: Mikkel Jensen (kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) and Alexander Albon (Signature) who both contested their FIA Formula 3 European Championship rookie season, last year. While the Dane and the Thai failed to secure race wins in their first season, several other rookies succeeded in doing so: Charles Leclerc, Maximilian Günther, George Russell and Lance Stroll. At Silverstone, Briton Russell secured the top step of the youngest podium of the year: together with Leclerc and Giovinazzi he made for an average age of just over 18 years. And Canadian Stroll became the youngest winner of the year when he prevailed at Hockenheim at an age of 16 years, 11 months and 15 days. Meanwhile, Monegasque Leclerc clinched the rookie title, thus giving his team, Van Amersfoort Racing, the first title of their FIA Formula 3 European Championship career.

The list of drivers who set fastest race laps comprises nine names, with one of them being Julio Moreno (ThreeBond with T-Sport), the only driver on the FIA Formula 3 European Championship grid who relied on a Neil Brown engine. With his fastest lap time set at Spielberg, the Ecuadorian demonstrated the competitiveness of the engine that also had been proven by Kiwi Nick Cassidy when he finished third in the 2014 FIA Intercontinental Cup in Macau.
