FIA Volunteers Weekend
Sport2022 FIA VOLUNTEERS WEEKEND RESOURCE PAGE
Announcement
The 2022 FIA Volunteers Weekend will take place on 12-13 November, celebrating those who dedicate their time to make motorsport possible around the world. The FIA Volunteers Weekend presents an opportunity to raise awareness and give thanks to the volunteers who carry out the wide variety of essential roles without which motorsport would simply not happen.
Throughout the weekend, the entire motor sport community - from volunteers and officials to fans, drivers and members of the media - are encouraged to join in and show their appreciation on social media. Using the hashtag #FIAVolunteersWeekend on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, people can share photos and stories of themselves in action over the two days, connecting motor sport volunteers at all levels from all around the world - from club events to world championships.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: “Volunteers and officials are the beating heart of motorsport. Without their tireless efforts, we would simply not be able to go racing in a controlled and safe environment. It is important for the entire FIA family to recognise the vital contribution that these women and men make to our sport. This weekend is a celebration but it is also an opportunity to promote the positive benefits that volunteers gain from their involvement in an effort to attract newcomers to motor sport.”
There are a number of motorsport events which coincide with the 2022 FIA Volunteers Weekend to lead the celebrations, with activities taking place to honour the marshals, race officials and medical staff that devote their time with no financial remuneration.
These include:
- FIA Formula 1 World Championship, Brazil
- FIA World Rally Championship, WRC FORUM8 Rally Japan
- FIA World Endurance Championship, WEC Bahrain
- FIA World Rallycross Championship, RX of Germany
- FIA World Touring Car Cup, WTCR Race of Bahrain
- FIA European Rally Trophy – Central Rally Trophy, Hungary
- FIA European Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, Saudi Arabia
Digital materials and suggestions for celebrating the occasion have been distributed to the FIA’s National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) to ensure that the important message of thanks can reach as many volunteers around the world as possible.
One of the main aims of the Weekend is to encourage new volunteers to the sport, and those interested in registering are advised to contact their local ASN.
Advice for ASNs
To make the most of FIA Volunteers Weekend as an ASN, we advise the following:
- Issuing a press release to your national database explaining what is happening on the Weekend, how your ASN is taking part and how people can join the celebrations
- Utilising the materials on this page – create content using the official FIA Volunteers Weekend Logo online (your website and social media) and in print (flyers, posters, newsletters) to encourage more people to sign up and volunteer with your organisation
- Engage in the conversation on social media. In the build-up and during 12-13 November, the FIA’s channels will be encouraging volunteers from around the world to share their pictures and stories using #FIAVolunteersWeekend
- Track your success – keep a record of your social media activities and number of new volunteers to help plan for future FIA Volunteers Weekends
