FIA Annual General Assembly 2012
The FIA Annual General Assembly 2012 start today in Istanbul, Turkey from 3rd to 7th December!
The Annual General Assembly is the largest and most important gathering in the FIA’s calendar, the Assembly being the federation’s supreme body.
Bringing together the FIA president and vice presidents with representatives of all the FIA’s regions, as well as delegates from across the federation’s 233 clubs, the week-long series of meetings is where key decisions affecting every region are taken.
Aside from approving reports and hearing of recent developments from all the FIA’s regions, the Annual General Assembly also hosts meetings of the World Council for Automobile, Mobility and Tourism, to deal with non-sporting active activities, and the World Motor Sport Council, which rules on all sporting matters, including the ratification of international sporting calendars.
The Assembly is also responsible, every four years, for the election of elects the President and Deputy Presidents of the FIA, the President and Members of the Senate, and the Secretary General of the International Court of Appeal. It also elects the Vice Presidents and Members of the World Councils for Sport and for Automobile, Mobility and Tourism.
