CTMS to Host Taipei Gymkhana Prize After Four-Year Break

19.03.24

The Taipei International Gymkhana Prize (TIGP), organised by Chinese Taipei Motor Sports (CTMS), is back after a four-year hiatus. Scheduled for April 2024 in Taipei City, the event will feature forty-eight drivers from sixteen ASN teams competing in four categories: male solo, female solo, male double, and mixed double.

Originating in 2019 as the first intercontinental auto gymkhana competition, the event saw participation from twelve ASN teams across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific, marking a successful debut.

This year's edition is expected to maintain the excitement. Teams like Team Germany and Team Slovak, winners of the 2022 Auto Slalom Cup at the FIA Motorsport Games, will vie for victory alongside Team Indonesia, the champion of the 2023 Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship.

Dr. Kwong Wing YEUNG, CTMS President, highlighted the event's broader mission to showcase top gymkhana drivers and promote grassroots motorsport accessibility and participation.

“The goal of the TIGP is not only to provide a platform for the world's best gymkhana drivers to compete and potentially become global icons for grassroots motorsport," he emphasized. "Equally important is our mission to encourage broader participation in this safe, affordable, and enjoyable motorsport accessible to all.”

A post-event Forum and Workshop themed "The Future of Auto Gymkhana Development, from local to global" will further this objective.
