Emma Gilmour and Lisette Bakker have conquered the desert and won a fully-funded drive in the 2016 Sealine Cross Country Rally. And, in a surprise announcement during the press conference, the President of QMMF, Nasser Al-Attiyah, declared that an additional two cars will be entered for the second-placed crew of Molly Taylor/Yasmeen Elmajed and third-placed Cristina Gutierrez Herrero/Lara Vanneste.

During today’s final 75 kilometre stage run in the dunes around Sealine, the nine drivers and nine co-drivers participating in the FIA Women in Motorsport-QMMF Women’s Cross Country Selection had their last opportunity to demonstrate their skills and show what they have learnt during the five-day training programme. This evening, the winning driver and co-driver will be announced and the crew will start their journey towards competing in the 2016 Sealine Cross Country Rally, a round of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies.

In the fourth day of the FIA Women in Motorsport-QMMF Women’s Cross Country Selection, the girls started with the morning stage and afterwards they split into groups, with the drivers doing the rally parcours with Jutta, and the co-drivers preparing the road book for the afternoon stage with Fabrizia.

After the third day of the programme, the FIA Women in Motorsport-QMMF Women’s Cross Country Selection organisers can already see great progression in the participants and improvements in their skills. “For us as organisers, we didn’t expect that all the girls will learn so easily, so we are very happy with the good improvements,” said Al Attiyah.
