Round 5 of 6: Rally di Roma Capitale, 14-17 September

JAN ČERNÝ (CZE) Championship position: Seventh
Co-driver: Petr Černohorský (CZE) Car: ŠKODA Fabia R5

“I’ve never been to this rally so it’s going to be really difficult to find the right set-up. From looking at the on-boards from last year the roads look really fast, not typical turning roads like I expected. For sure we’re going to push because this season has not been really good for us. It was better in Barum but now I want more in Italy.”

STÉPHANE CONSANI (FRA) Championship position: N/A
Co-driver: Valentin Salmon (FRA) Car: Ford Fiesta R5

“The ERC Junior Under 28 Championship is really interesting with high level drivers so this is a great opportunity and it’s very exciting to race against drivers of my age. My target is to gain experience with Valentin and my Erreffe team on an international rally as this will give us a more precise idea of what we can target in coming seasons. Finishing on the ERC Junior Under 28 podium would be a fantastic result.”

NIKOLAY GRYAZIN (RUS) Championship position: Fourth
Co-driver: Yaroslav Fedorov (RUS) Car: ŠKODA Fabia R5

“We won Rally Nova Gorica in Slovenia last weekend and this has given us good confidence to push on every stage in Rome but I don’t know about the result, I only try to push. The testing for this event was in dry conditions but I don’t know what it will be like if it rains because there is a chance it will rain at the weekend. I hope it will be good.”

PEPE LÓPEZ (ESP) Championship position: Second
Co-driver: Borja Rozada (ESP) Car: Peugeot 208 T16

“The Czech Republic was a completely new rally for us. We managed to finish the race, but it was a tough weekend for us because we weren’t able to find our usual pace. We've taken a hard look at what happened, identify the positives and now we'll do our best to be stronger in Rome. A big ‘thank you’ to Peugeot Sport and to everyone in the Peugeot Rally Academy team for their efforts. I'm sure we will be back to our pace in Rome and I hope I can bring a good result for the team.”

JOSÉ SUÁREZ (ESP) Championship position: Fifth
Co-driver: Cándido Carrera (ESP) Car: Peugeot 208 T16

“It’s a shame about my mistake on Saturday in the Barum Rally and we also picked up a puncture, otherwise we could have targeted a podium finish. We did our best to fight our way back to third in ERC Junior and we showed some good speed, so that’s good for confidence ahead of Rome, which is the kind of rally Cándido and I like. The car has proved in the last two races its reliability and good performance so we are committed to fight for the victory if we have the slightest chance.”
